What is the procedure on the day of the exam?
No later than 3 days before your exam, you will receive an email containing all the information you need about your exam day. It is important that you arrive on time. If you arrive late, we will not be able to admit you to the exam.
Please report to the office first, where your official photo ID will be checked. You will also be told in which room your exam will take place.
You will then need to hand in your personal belongings at the cloakroom – for example, bags, jackets, mobile phones, smartwatches, etc.
After the written exam, we will let you know when your oral exam is due to take place. You will either have time to take a break and leave the premises, or you will proceed directly to the waiting room.
From there, you will proceed to the preparation room, where you will prepare for the oral exam.
We will then escort you to the examination room.
Once that is over, you will have completed the exam and can return to the cloakroom to collect your personal belongings.
Further information – before the exam
You can cancel or reschedule your exam free of charge up to 4 weeks before the exam date. After this deadline, this is no longer possible. If you register within the last 30 days before the exam, you cannot cancel free of charge. After that, the full exam fee will be charged.
In that case, a refund of the examination fee will no longer be possible.
In a combined examination, you sit both the written and oral parts on the same day. It is important that you keep the whole day free, as there may be a long break between the written and oral examinations.
At the DeutschAkademie in Vienna, Hamburg and Munich, you can also sit partial exams – either just the oral part or just the written part. This allows you to easily complete whatever you still need to pass the full exam.
Requirements for a partial examination:
An examination of the same format must have been taken within the last 12 months and a results sheet must be provided.
If you require special examination arrangements due to a disability, please do not hesitate to contact us. To ensure the examination is accessible, you must register with us at least 4 weeks before the examination, and we require a medical certificate or equivalent documentation that specifies in detail the nature and degree of your permanent disability, preferably using ICD codes. The certificate must not be more than 2 years old and must be submitted in German or English. Alternatively, a certified translation into one of these two languages must be sent to us in addition to the original certificate.
