ÖSD exams in Vienna
At DeutschAkademie, the ÖSD exam is offered once a month. The exams take place at our language school at Opernring 1 – near the Vienna State Opera. You can take an ÖSD B1 exam, ÖSD B2 exam, or ÖSD C1 exam.

How do I register for the exam?
After creating a free customer account, you can book your preferred ÖSD exam date in Vienna.
DeutschAkademie is an ÖSD examination center
By passing an ÖSD exam, you can prove your language skills for school, vocational training, university studies, or work. DeutschAkademie in Vienna is licensed as an ÖSD examination center. This means you can take German courses and exam preparation courses for all levels with us. Afterwards, you can take the corresponding ÖSD exam in a familiar environment at our location and receive your ÖSD certificate.

DeutschAkademie has no influence over the processes during the exam, as it strictly follows the official guidelines. The exams are directly supervised by ÖSD, and the results are provided to DeutschAkademie. Therefore, DeutschAkademie also has no influence on when the results are received or if delays occur. However, we will always keep you informed about the current status.

Before the ÖSD exam
How can I prepare for the ÖSD German exam?
DeutschAkademie offers special online exam preparation courses. These courses prepare you for the exam. You will become familiar with the exam format and receive useful strategies and tips on how to best complete the different task types. However, this is not a guarantee that you will pass the exam. Can I retake the exam if I do not pass?
Yes, exams can be repeated as many times as desired.
Until when can I register for an exam?
You can register up to 14 calendar days before the exam, provided there are still available spots. Places are very limited, as the exam is conducted in small groups.
Further Information
You can cancel or reschedule your exam free of charge up to 4 weeks before the exam date. After this deadline, this is no longer possible. If you register within the last 30 days before the exam, free cancellation is not possible. After that, the full exam fee will be charged.
A refund of the exam fee is no longer possible in this case.
The exams at DeutschAkademie are designed so that both parts are taken on the same day. It is important that you keep the entire day free, as there may be a longer break between the written and oral exams.
At DeutschAkademie in Vienna, we currently do not offer partial exams.
About the ÖSD exam and exam day
What time does my exam take place?
You will receive an email no later than 3 days before your exam date with information about the exact time of your exam and the exam procedure. If you have not received an email by 2 days before the exam, please contact us.
What do I need to bring on the exam day?
To be admitted to the exam, you must present your official photo ID. If you forget it, we unfortunately cannot admit you to the exam.
Drinks and food are allowed.
Personal hygiene items such as tissues are also permitted.
Jackets, bags, mobile phones, wristwatches, and other items may not be taken into the room and must be handed in before the exam begins. According to the examination regulations, mobile phones and other electronic devices must be handed in and switched off for the entire duration of the exam.

What is the procedure on the exam day?
Three days before your exam, you will receive an email containing all information about your exam day. It is important that you arrive on time. In the case of late arrival, we will no longer be able to admit you to the exam.
Please first check in at the office, where your official photo ID will be verified. You will also receive information about the room in which your exam will take place.
At the cloakroom, you must hand in your personal belongings.
After the written exam, we will inform you when your oral exam will take place. Either you will still have time to take a break and leave the premises, or you will go directly to the waiting room.
From there, you will proceed to the preparation room, where you can prepare for the oral exam.
Afterwards, we will take you to the examination room.
Once everything is completed, you may return to the cloakroom and collect your personal belongings.
Further Information
For exam levels A1, A2, and B1, you are not allowed to use a dictionary.
For the B2 level, a bilingual dictionary (Greek or another desired source language – German) is permitted. For the C1 and C2 levels, a monolingual dictionary (German-German) is allowed. The use of a dictionary is permitted both during the written exam and during preparation for the oral exam.
For the C1 and C2 exams, you may only use a monolingual dictionary (German-German). The use of a dictionary is permitted both during the written exam and during preparation for the oral exam.
DeutschAkademie does not provide dictionaries on the exam day.
As the exam day is organized to run as smoothly as possible for all participants, it is not possible to make individual adjustments. Please keep the entire exam day free to avoid scheduling conflicts.
In the case of late arrival, we will no longer be able to admit you to the exam.
You will be excluded from the exam and may not continue participating. Therefore, you will not receive a certificate.
After the ÖSD exam
How long do I have to wait for my results?
DeutschAkademie is the examination center administering the exam. However, the exam itself is corrected by ÖSD, which means DeutschAkademie depends on when the results are provided. Normally, it takes about 2 weeks, but delays are also possible.
How will I receive my certificate?
You will receive your result by email as soon as your exam results are available. You can collect your certificate at DeutschAkademie.
What happens if I do not pass the exam?
You may take the exam again, but you will also have to pay the exam fees again.
Further information
No, there is no expiration date.
If you lose your certificate, a duplicate can be issued by the ÖSD headquarters in Austria. The cost for printing a duplicate is 10.00 euros for the full certificate and an additional 5.00 euros for the card.
In order for the duplicate to be issued, you must send us a copy of the bank transfer receipt together with an official loss confirmation (with a stamp from the KEP or the police) by email to service@deutschakademie.com.
Please note that, due to GDPR regulations applicable throughout the EU, candidate data may only be stored for a period of five years. After this period, the data must be permanently deleted. This means that a duplicate can only be issued within five years after the original print date.
If you disagree with your exam result, you may submit an appeal. The appeal must be submitted in writing through the examination center. The results will then be reviewed together with ÖSD.
