Oktoberfest

Bavaria and Oktoberfest has a unique connection!

Right from the 18th century from the time of marriage ceremony of King Ludwig, it is celebrated in Munich. It’s a 3 weeks long festival starting from mid of September to first week of October.

To witness this grand fest, thousands of people from all over the world come to Munich.

Ladies wearing dirndl and gents wearing lederhose (leather pants and checks shirt) is the Hallmark of Octoberfest!

I had been to Oktoberfest in 2017.At the entrance security was tight and all the emergency services were ready. This was essential because festival ground was literally flooded with people.

People were enjoying in groups. There were so many tents and beer was served in the tent along with chicken or wurst. People were relishing their food and drinks with lots of laughter and talks!

I too enjoyed a Brezel bread and ginger bread.

There were so many rides and games for children and a child in me enjoyed that too!

So I understood why every Bavarian eagerly waits for Oktoberfest every year.

It’s nothing but the relaxation and get together with friends just before the winter starts.

So after reading this, am sure those who haven’t been to Oktoberfest yet, will definitely attend it this year!

My intensive German course

As I selected an intensive German course at Deutsch Akadamie my learning schedule is from 8:30 to 11:30 Monday to Friday.

3 hrs per day is a good time to put in for learning a new language.

Though it’s intensive learning, it’s not at all boring. Because here in Deutsch Akadamie very enthusiastic and active teachers are appointed for teaching.

Group discussion, games with partner, writing our opinions about particular subject, short trip and presentation are the activities carried out here.

So learning in such a way is a fun and not a burden.

Also hören, schreiben, lesen, sprechen (hearing, writing, reading and speaking) are covered in these activities.

Everyday homework is also given and it is corrected in the next class. This helps to concrete the vocabulary and whatever we have learnt on that day.

So always there’s something new in the class…may it be grammar, text or any new word game. So I don’t like to miss my class for any reason!

Lively Munich!!

Munich located in southern Germany is a metropolitan yet a classy city.

You can see the ancient architecture throughout the city centre.

Also Munich is famous for its Oktoberfest. Every Bavarian enjoys it to the fullest.

Public transport in Munich is really commendable. Every part of the city is well connected with S-Bahn, U-Bahn, Bus or Tram…so even if you don’t have a car it really doesn’t matter! Rather it’s enjoyable in Munich to travel by public transport.

Deutsche museum, Munich residenz, BMW welt, Olympia tower, Marienplatz are the must see places in Munich.

Old Rathaus building at Marienplatz

My personal favourite is Marienplatz. Some may find it crowded but I really enjoy being there. Those who like beer can enjoy it in the large beer gardens and those who don’t drink (like me) can sip a coffee sitting in a cafe at Marienplatz. This place is always full of zest so I like it very much. Also here I enjoy shopping a lot.

I visited Marienplatz first time in the chilly month of February. Though it was 0 degree at that time the atmosphere was lively and full of energy.

So whenever I feel little bit gloomy or homesick I visit Marienplatz, spend some hours there and get recharged again!!

Why am I learning German?

We moved to Germany 2 years back and are willing to stay here for several years.

Right from the giant automotive industry to the flourishing software industry Germany offers the hardworking and creative people a good future.

As I am a homoeopath, I too want to work in Germany in the field of research in homoeopathy.

So knowing German is important for me to work here as well as to communicate with the natives.

One year back I started learning German on my own and started communicating with the people whenever I got the chance and I found that German people get very happy if we talk with them in their language.

However my German skills were very limited and I realised that I needed special coaching to improve my skills so I was searching for good German classes.

After reviewing many finally I chose Deutsch Akademie as I had already heard good feedback from my friend and also I read good reviews about Deutsch academy. Furthermore in Deutsch academy it takes 2 months to complete 1 level of course like A1/A2.This is very convenient.

Also there are maximum up to 11 students per class so it gives fun of studying in group at the same time resolving personal queries and attention of teacher is also possible.

So right now I have had a good start and am sure my choice is always the best!

My first day at class!

So I have started my Deutsch learning in Deutsch Academy.

First day in the class was very good. I got to know my colleagues.

In our group, coincidently there are many girls and everyone I found very friendly and nice.

My colleagues are from China, Japan, Nepal, India, France and Brazil.

This is very interesting that everyone has a different culture and yet trying to mingle with the German culture by learning German.

Our teacher is very enthusiastic and with the help of different-different games she is making German learning fun.

I am sure we are going to learn good German and at the same time going to have good fun.
