Language visa: German course plus visa

Anyone who wants to take a German course for private or professional reasons can apply for a visa on this basis, also known as a language visa. The language courses must comprise at least 18 hours per week and are limited in time.

Do I need a visa for Germany?

If you are an EU citizen, you do not need a visa to enter and stay in Germany.

If you are not an EU citizen, you can find all further information on whether you require a visa on the website of the German Foreign Office or in our overview of visa for Germany.

Which visa do I need for a language course in Germany?

Depending on the duration of your language course in Germany, you will need different visas:

  • Schengen visa type C for short-term stays: If your language course lasts no longer than 90 days, you can attend a language course with a Schengen visa.
  • Language visa Germany in the form of a national visa for long-term stays: If you want to stay longer than 90 days, you can apply for a special language visa Germany, among other things to attend language courses.
  • Pre-study language visa: This type of visa is required if you are attending a language course in preparation for studying at a university in Germany.

Visa application process

If you need a visa for your German course in Munich, please enquire about the requirements at the German embassy or consulate general in your country.

As soon as the course fees for your German course in Munich have been credited to our account, you can download the registration confirmation with all course details from the webshop. You will need to present this confirmation to the authorities in order to obtain a visa for Germany. Please note that we cannot send you an invitation.

If you do not receive a visa for your German course in Munich, we will refund the course fees in full up to 14 days before the start of your German course.

If you send us a copy of the rejection letter from the German embassy, cancellation is also possible free of charge up to 7 days before the start of your German course.
