Hi!
If you say "you WOULD like to do something" you use the german word "würden".
Per example: "If I had lots of money, I would buy a big car."
"Wenn ich viel Geld hätte, WÜRDE ich ein großes Auto kaufen."
The system works like this: You have to conjugate the verb "würden" and put another verb at the end of the sentence in infintiv-form:
ich würde kaufen
du würdest kaufen
er,sie,es würde kaufen
wir würden kaufen
ihr würdet kaufen
sie, Sie würden kaufen
The verb "werden" is needed for:
- phrases: "schwanger werden", "krank werden",... ("werden" means "become")
- future form: To use the future form in german, you need the verb "werden" and another verb at the end of the sentence in infinitive-form:
"Tomorrow I will buy a new car. Morgen werde ich ein neues Auto kaufen."
ich werde kaufen
du wirst kaufen
er,sie,es wirs kaufen
wir werden kaufen
ihr werdet kaufen
sie, Sie werden kaufen
-passiv form: If you want to say something in passiv form ("The window will be opened.") you also have to use "werden", but with a Partizip II-form in the end of the sentence. -- "Das Fenster wird geöffnet."
