Was für ein Leben? Ohne Schärfe!

Moin everyone and welcome back!

What’s life? Without spice! Yes, it gets better when you have an option to choose the level of spice in the Currywurst – a German origin food that consists of chopped chunks of fried sausage seasoned with ketchup and topped with curry powder and other spices. It is served with potato fries. The Bruzzelhütte is a currywurst joint on Bremer Straße in Hamburg, a must visit just to try out on how much hot and spicy you can eat.

As you can see in the picture, the scale of spice varies from 1 to 12 and anything above 7 is extremely spicy. I did not dare and decided to go for the median of regular levels that was number 4 – the Chilli Burner. And as the name suggests, I had some burning sensations on my tongue and throat. I enjoyed my snack as the experience eating it was somewhat novel.

It is merely a coincidence that just like the spice levels in the Currywurst, the German language levels are also 12 in number. They are A1.1, A1.2, A2.1, A2.2, B1.1, B1.2, B2.1, B2.2, C1.1, C1.2, C2.1 and C2.2 in the increasing order of difficulty. You will have to master the lower levels before you try out the higher levels. Only people with sheer grit and determination are able to master them all.

Viel Spaß!
