Although I come from a country where Christmas has been celebrated since the day after Halloween, I must say that I was impressed to arrive in Germany and find Christmas things
in the shops and markets since the end of August. I didn’t think you had the same energy here for this beautiful celebration because it goes beyond the religious. Important dates you can’t miss…
From December 1st to 24th: don’t forget to check your “Adventskalender” and if you want to give a good detail stop by the stores and you will find a lot of curious and interesting options for your loved ones.
December 6th: for the Germans this date is more important than Christmas, because it is the day that St. Nicholas comes to visit the houses, just don’t forget to clean your shoes well to receive your surprise.
December 24th and 25th: two days of Christmas quite familiar and the “Weihnachtsmann” comes to leave the gifts. Although the celebration of Christmas in Colombia is also big, I feel that the experience of spending Christmas in Germany is intensified by the cold, because you go out to the Weihnachtsmarkt and you feel like the protagonist of a movie, you only have to go out prepared, never forget a hat, a scarf, a good jacket and good shoes, but if you still feel very cold, taste the Glühwein or varieties of coffee and chocolate with liquor to warm up at this time of year.
Merry Christmas to everyone!
