Course content

This course offers you focused preparation for your DSH exam in Hamburg. In model tests, exam simulations and special exercises, you will practice all areas (speaking, listening, writing and reading) in which you will be tested in the DSH exam. Your qualified German teacher will show you test strategies, highlight areas requiring particular attention and answer all questions relating to the exam and exam preparation.

DSH exam in Hamburg

Passing the DSH exam is usually the requirement to study at a German institute of higher education. The abbreviation “DSH” stands for “Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang” (Eng: Test of German-Language Ability for University Admission). With this exam, applicants from abroad who have not completed their Abitur, the German school-leaving certificate which qualifies a student for University admission, show that they are able to understand lectures and seminars and can read academic texts without difficulty.

The exams are marked centrally. Your DSH level is allocated to you according to percentage gained. For most courses of study, level 2 (about C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required. For this you will require a total percentage of between 67-81%. With 57-66%, you attain level 1 and from 82% you attain the DSH-3 level.

Taking the DSH exam

After the DSH preparation course you are excellently prepared for the DSH exam. You can take the exam directly at the relevant university at which you wish to study or at other test centers across Germany. We will gladly inform you about exam dates, registration deadlines and examination locations at the secretaries’ office of our German language school.
