Der Mitte Kiez

Sandra, 23. September 2019

The oldest area of Berlin lies in Mitte (middle). It holds most of the city’s top attractions, so when I moved to this Kiez (neighborhood), I had plenty to discover 🙂
Between 1961 and 1990, Mitte was part of East Berlin, closed to the West and surrounded by the Berlin Wall. Checkpoint Charlie — the iconic border crossing, still exists for tourists to go back in time and cross from one side to the other. These are just a few tidbits about my new neighborhood and each and every one of Berlin’s Kiez has it’s own special charm and history.
