Berlin the city of life

How nice is to have a walk around our city. Berlin keeps me wonder every time I go out on the street. I love to live in this international city full of art, culture, history and life.

People call Berlin the city of Distinction. The city of Science. The city that deserves your undivided Attention.

I agree with that 100%. When you come to Berlin once, you will fall in love with it.

One of my favorite places in Berlin is Hackescher Markt platz. My friend and classmate Liza from DeutschAkademie took me for sightseeing there.  Few meters away from the S-band station you can find yourself seating in the Monbijou park facing the museum island. I love having a dink, seating on the grass and enjoying the view of river Spree which is always full with cruise boats.

Ornanienburg strasse is the main street which goes parallel along the park. If you decide to explore it, you will be amazed about the inner yards Cafés and shops. Liza took me for a tee in a hidden Tadshikische Teestube.

This area of Berlin is such a charmy place full with art galleries, exhibitions, fashion shows, unique shops and theaters. I was surprised with every step we gave.

I love Berlin

Living here is a privilege and a blessing

Knoblauchhaus Berlin

Wooow this is such a beautiful museum!!! It’s the best place to go for a FREE museum visit where you could experience the authentic taste of Vintage Aristocratic Berlin house. I take all my visitor friends there. It’s a beautiful way to learn about Berlin and its people.

The Knoblauchhaus is a baroque building founded in 1760 with a gently curved façade. When you visit this wonderful place you will have the opportunity to dive into a different world as the whole house has original reconstructed living rooms. The first floor is dedicated to the Knoblauch family members and their own precious furniture, more than a century old.

The second floor contains every-day objects, pictures and family documents about social life, economy, politics, and architecture. That way you could investigate how was life in Berlin during the past era. The people who lived in the house — Knoblauchhaus family were businessmen, architects, politicians and scientists who contributed to the Berlin which we know today.

If you want to travel back in time …just go to Knobauchhaus near Alexander platz

You will be astonished 😉

Wansee

IMG-20160411-WA0042

During the weekend I had the opportunity to visit the lake Wansee. It’s a wonderful place located just next to Berlin.

I loved it since the first moment I arrived. It offers beautiful views and allows you to have a lovely walk away from the city noise and stress.

Can you imagine that Wansee Lake has a sandy beach??? Yeaaah you read correct! 1,275 metres of sandy beach all for you! During the warm seasons you could rent a beach chair, sunbathe, have picnic and enjoy the water slides. Cannot wait for summer to come. It’s such a great combination: beach, park, lake…Es ist Super!

And when it gets really hot in Berlin, up to 30,000 fans can be accommodated at Wansee. Beach Volleyball, Frisbee and Soccer are the popular sport activities among the visitors. If you are a boat-lover you can even rent a boat and enjoy a sailing day.

How to get to the Lake? You can use public transport. It takes 50 min from Alexander platz.

I love being outside in the nature rather than staying at home. I recommend you to always try new things and to never stop yourself of going somewhere only because no-one is with you…go and have fun!

Wansee offers so many choices to enjoy a day out. So don’t forget that Wansee is waiting for you

Dinner Party

Party

The best way to enjoy life is to share it with friends.

We had a house party full with yammi food, nice music, interesting chats and lots of great laughter. I love meeting my classmates out of the classroom.  And I love when our teacher joins us. 😉  It was so much fun.

We had a lovely evening which everyone enjoyed. The conversations were about our home countries, laughing at our clichés, sharing experiences in our new home Berlin, and trying to exchange some German words 😉

Everyone collaborated bringing some snacks and their favorite drinks. The menu included some cuscus salad, humus with freshly baked bread, different finger foods, snacks etc.

For desert we had different options …the healthy fans had some strawberries and grapes and the sweetlovers including myself had homemade chocolate croasants and apple cake 😉

Friends is not about who you have known the longest.

It’s about who walked into your life, said “I am here for you” and proved it.

Fotos vom Kulturprogramm im April

Liebe Teilnehmer

Today at class we were talking about cinema options in Berlin. Where in our city to go and enjoy a cinema movie? Many of us are new to German language exposure, so watching an English speaking movie in Berlin’s cinema could be quiet nice and relaxing hang out. This could be a good break after a long day of studying German.

There are many cinemas in Berlin showing films in their original language (Original Fassung or OF). Films listed as OmU (Original mit Untertiteln) are also shown in their original language, usually with German subtitles. In some cases, the original language of the film could be not English but French, Spanish or Japanese. Films being shown in the original language with English subtitles are also sometimes listed as OF mit engl. UT (Original Version with English subtitles).

The biggest “Kino” in Berlin which offer variety of English speaking movies is Cine Star at Sony Centre

Magst du Tee trinken?

Today at class we had a Tea surprise from our lovely Ukrainian classmate Inna! She brought a special homemade tea for all of us. It was sooooo tasty! And how nice is to be surprised with love and care. It makes your day! It changes everything!

We all sat in our “Pause” (break) drinking the aromatic tea and chatting about each other’s tastes. We had two groups: the tea lovers and the coffee lovers. We exchanged some tea recipes and we laughed about some countries traditions.

Living in the UK for 5 years made me addicted to drinking black tea with milk –this is the British way of enjoying a hot drink.

Our Arabic classmates explained us about their traditional “Shai” tea which they usually like drinking with lots of sugar.

The Spanish information we had was more about coffee products and the different varieties. There is famous a very sweet coffee called “Bonbon” made with half portion of condensate milk and half portion of strong coffee.

Today we all just want to encourage you to enjoy your favorite hot drink in the company of your classmates, neighbors, friends, etc.

Sharing is always sweeter !!!

Klassischer Musik KOSTENLOS

IMG_9787 IMG_9791

Yess you have heard well. A concert of Classic music for FREE !!!

Every Tuesday at 1pm Berlin Philharmonic offers to the public a free concert in their foyer. I had the opportunity to enjoy the performances twice so far. They are called “The Lunch concerts”.

Every time I go there I relax seating in one of the hidden corners of the building while listening the magnificent melody. Many people come prepared with a mini blanket and seat on the floor. Others come here for their lunch break. I was impressed to see many young people seating next to pensioners and all together enjoying themselves in this wonderful atmosphere.

My recommendation for you is to go a bit earlier than 1pm as sometimes the Philharmonic hall reaches its capacity and then people are not allowed to enter anymore.

The lunch concerts are a great way to take few moments away from the hectic daily routine and sink in a melody ocean. The 40-50 minute programmes feature members of the Berlin Philharmonic and scholars of its Orchestra Academy.

If you a music-lover this is the best place to be on Tuesdays

Mein Lieblingsfilm

sas

Such an interesting class we had today at DeutschAkademie. We were having a lesson about movies, series, and all kind of cinema vocabulary. I like that the conversation in German became so fluent as people were trying to present their favorite series or movies. Everyone was passionate about their beloved genre. It’s so fascinating that we all have totally different taste for the film industry. I love getting new insides from my classmates. You can always learn from the person next to you.

Today we exchanged suggestions about the next movie we should watch. And Why not trying to watch it in German with English subtitles ???I  think this is the best way to learn the accent and to master the pronunciation. Let’s combine learning Deutsch with some fun

Our suggestions movie list is the next:

  • Desert flower
  • Hotel Rwanda
  • The Prestige
  • The Tourist
  • The Great Dictator
  • The Revenant
  • UP (animation)
  • The Illusionist
  • Catch me if you can

Our series list is the next:

  • Doctor House
  • Friends
  • Breaking bad
  • Sherlock Holmes
  • Indiana Jones

Have fun !!!!  or Viel Spaß !!!
