Want to See WANNSEE

It is commonly said…”Make hay while the sun shines”!!!After a long and cold winter, when the sun chose to show us its face, I along with some of my friends wanted to explore the outskirts of Berlin. Having heard good things about it, we were really excited to travel to as many places as possible. Hence on one weekend, we started early in the morning and set out towards the city of Potsdam.

A few stations prior to our destination was a place called Wannsee…The name appealed to us so much that we planned to get down and check a few places around. Anyways nothing was conflicting with our goal of aimless wandering. As we set out to observe the shiny crystals of snow, we came across scenic beauty which we had not thought of.

Pure white snow covered the ground completely as we made our way through the canopy towards the nearest water body (lake or river, we could not figure out). The calm and serene environment was making the whole setting an enchanting spectacle.

We were so lost in the beauty of the surroundings that we eventually forgot to make our way to Potsdam. May be next time it would be Potsdam, is what we thought. I am sharing some pictures here for all of you to take a look at. Certainly in my opinion, countryside surpasses the city on many parameters.

Barbeque in Spring…

Well did we learn in play school that there are four seasons in a year? Digging into the basics, I recollect my teacher having taught something like: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, follow a cyclic pattern to share their responsibilities towards the world. I believed in the same until this year…

My German colleagues share a common joke nowadays whereby a subscript to each of their mails state:” Don`t ask about the weather, even for me it`s quite strange to have snow in middle/end of March”…Indeed it’s a matter of concern for the Meteorological department if seasons go missing, may be the cops might be of some help, but for those who like a few mix and matches with their plans, this might just be an interesting option.

Some of my friends were waiting for the spring to have a Barbeque party. Since the end of February we had been postponing the same as there was snow all around and we were not brave enough to try something new. Eventually I convinced them to have one in the snow.

Lots of planning went into the preparations to keep ourselves warm throughout the day. On the day of our venture, we were all taken by surprise. There was no snowfall since morning and the mercury levels had risen considerably. The snow that was present around was also melting making it pleasant everywhere. It seemed as though spring was waiting for us to take the first step. I am glad that we did and could enjoy a much awaiting outing in the park… BBQ 1 (1)

Hannover Messe

Hannover Messe

Germany is the hub of technology. I had heard of it all my life but eventually I got an experience to observe it. What would be a better opportunity than seeing all major players from all major sectors gather under one roof (not literally as there were 34 halls to visit) putting their best foot forward to showcase their master inventions in the field of technology. It was something like a display of power whereby each was peacefully trying to outdo the other.

Talking about the magnanimity of the fair, I haven’t personally seen anything bigger. 34 halls, each with an excess of 250 exhibitors, mostly all big names and brands!!! What else could one dream of at a place? At least I cannot want for more…

The fair was inaugurated by the chancellor of Germany Ms Angela Merkel and the partner country for the fair this year was Russia. Guided tours, career talks, project demos are some of the events happening at the place. The fair is held every year and lasts usually for 4 to 5 days. The whole experience was so mesmerising for me that I plan to write less and leave you guys with more pictures this time…Pic 1 (7)Pic 1 (6)Pic 1 (5)Pic 1 (4)Pic 1 (3)Pic 1 (2)Pic 1 (1)
