ZIONSKIRCHE

Hola chicos!:

¿Estáis dispuestos a descubrirlas?

Fiesta time

Last day of B1.1 course was celebrated with food, laughter and great chats. Each one of us brought sweets & treats so we could all have a party and a great time together. It was fun to spend this 4 weeks with these unique people who became my good friends. Some of them will continue with the German course and some of them will not because they are starting a job or school. But no matter what is next in our journey we will try to keep in touch and maintain the contact. Friendships are so precious and valuable gift that we all need to invest in them in order to not lose them.

Today we had the opportunity to say our BIG thank you to our lovely teacher Madeleine and thank her for the amazing job she did during all these days. She was putting an enormous effort to make our German class interesting, funny, easy and really useful. Every day she made new exercises and interesting games which carried lots of handy German words and helpful phrases. Her talent to explain very difficult grammar through examples and detailed explanations was the best way to learn this challenging syntax. I loved it when she was writing on the board because she was using lots of different colours to highlight the new grammatical rules and vocabulary of the lesson. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. So thankful to have the chance to be her student. Thank you dear Madi for you passion and dedication.

The last thing that I could add is the next. One class + one teacher = One family. It’s been really fun to be part of DeutschAkademie family.

Charity water

Friday 3rd of June will be a Big day. Berlin is hosting a 5 km run which takes place in the Tiergarten. Many people are going to participate. Many are going to run for pleasure with their friends but many will be doing it for purpose. My friend Madi and I are going to run for charity water. We are passionate about helping people who don’t have access to clean water.

  • It’s so sad to know that still today in 21st century 1.1 billion people in the world cannot drink clean water (Europe has a population of less than 1 billion people)
  • These people sometimes need to walk during 30km per day in order to collect dirty water from lakes, rivers and ponds.
  • Every 19 seconds a mother loses her baby, as babies are more vulnerable to get sick after drinking dirty water.
  • 4500 children will die today from water diseases.

How sad and how amusing is that many of us don’t know the size of this BIG problem.

1 Euro gives clean water to 1 person for the whole 1 year.

Can you imagine? When my friend and I heard that every euro can help we were really passionate about the opportunity to be the change for these people.

So we decided to get creative baking some yummy cupcakes and selling them in DeutschAkademie. It was fun. We baked 60 cupcakes and we spoke to many of the students. Many of them were really happy to help and they all bough a sweet cupcake for themselves.

It’s great to meet so many generous people. We can only make a difference when we are together in this big cause.

You can still donate here

Generosity is not about the size of your donation but about the size of your hearth.

Dancing in Berlin

Yesss dancing! The best way to relax after a long week of school or work is to go dancing. It’s fun, it’s healthy and it’s a great way to meet new friends.

“You look ridiculous if you dance
You look ridiculous if you don’t dance
So you might as well
dance.”

Gertrude Stein

Berlin is a place of opportunities. You could chose to dance anything you like. You have so many choices. Discofox, Tango, Salsa, Cha Cha, Swing, Samba etc.

My husband and I are beginners in dancing but we have decided to go and have a try. Every Monday we visit a very nice Tanzschule near Tegel airport. Each week we learn a new type of dance. This is fun and a great chance to find out which is our favorite dance. So far we think that Samba is his best one and Swing is mine :p

This is our tanzshule

But we recommend you to choose the nearest one to you, to go and to have fun. Don’t be shy, just be expectant to have a great time.

A21

Have you ever heard about A21? No?  Me neither … but I recently got the chance to meet Christine Caine. She explained what was the campaign A21 about. And then when I heard her speaking I was completely shocked, astonished and touched.

I decided to write one of my blogs about this because I think we all need to be informed of what is happening around us so we are not the next victim. Education is the best way of prevention.

This could happen to everyone. I saw the video and I realized how easy is this.

A21 is non-profit, non-governmental organization that works to fight human trafficking, including sexual exploitation and forced slave labor. The campaign was founded in 2008 by the same lady – Christine Caine.

I was shocked when I heard that there are 27million people who are missing. Can you imagine? All of them involved in prostitution or slavery involuntary …they have been tricked, fooled and kidnaped.

Please watch this short video and be careful in the future. Be informed about the world around you
