Language examination Berlin: Elementary Level Examination B1

Passing the Elementary Level Examination proves that you can competently use the German language in everyday situations. You are capable of mastering common situations in which the German language is utilized and have no inhibitions to actively use German.

The Elementary Level Examination is a prerequisite for

obtaining the German citizenship. Additionally, it enables you to take a preparatory course for International students (Studienkolleg) or a German language course at a German university or college if you also present a certificate of your participation in a German language course. In addition, the Elementary Level Examination serves as proof of adequate German proficiency when applying for a trainee position with a German company. The Elementary Level Examination takes place once a month at the Deutschakademie Berlin. It consists of 5 parts: grammar, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression, oral expression.
